Harvard Science Research Conference
What is HSRC?
The Harvard Science Research Conference (HSRC) is a two-day conference for exceptional high school students, hosted on Harvard’s campus that will entail a series of speakers, workshops, and mentoring sessions designed to encourage and promote interest in the natural sciences as well as research.
My Research
At Harvard, I presented my groups research on the use of microRNA big-data neural networks for the early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer). Diagnosing liver cancer is difficult because it is often asymptomatic. This makes detecting early on-set tumors hard, and most are not found until they are late stage.
My solution proposes the creation of liver diagnostic blood test kits, using MiRNA data from blood. Model that diagnoses liver cancer based on DNA methylation information from the liver. This model will be used as a follow-up test, if a patient is tested positive by the blood test.
